Cystocele Repair

Cystocele Repair / Pelvic Prolapse

Pelvic prolapse repair is a minimally invasive procedure. It is performed for those patients who have prolapse bladder and surrounding structures due to child birth, aging, and previous hysterectomy. The repair is done via small vaginal incisions. Synthetic mesh is placed between the top of the vagina and upper part of the tailbone to elevate prolapsing pelvic structures.

How to prepare for the procedure

Paravaginal defect repair is performed under anesthesia. When preparing to have a procedure performed under anesthesia you can expect to start fasting the night prior to your procedure. Please consult with your surgeon to discuss the pre-operative testing which may include; blood work, chest x-ray, EKG, discontinuation of medications, bowel prep, and clearance for other medical reasons.
